After my great Nan (Fran) sharing so many stories about her times as a young girl during the war, we decided to surprise her with a trip to Krakow. She has always wanted to go and see the places that so many people were talking about at the time. Despite not being the most steady on her feet or having the best hearing, she was so keen to have a tour around the concentration camps.

It is amazing that camps such as Auschwitz and Birkenau are so well preserved. They demonstrate such an important message the should always be remembered. Even though it was an unforgettable experience, it is scary to think that humans are capable of such things. So many people come through these camps thinking that they were being offered helped and were finally reaching peace.
